Consulting and Design
Does your business need help designing or sourcing automotive electronics? Matt Cramer has over a dozen years in the aftermarket automotive electronics business and can help with your products! Services include:
Enclosure design
We can help you design and source eye-catching enclosures for your electronics! Enclosure options include:
- Modified off the shelf enclosures. You can start with an existing injection molded, extruded, or die cast case, and have it cut to fit your specific product. This gives you a case that looks the part with no need to pay for expensive tooling.
- Laser cut and folded sheet metal. Great if you need to match the exact outer dimensions of an OEM part without fixed tooling costs.
- Machined aluminum. Looks the part of race electronics, very effective when you also need the enclosure to serve as a heavy duty heat sink.
- Injection molded or die cast custom designs. Low cost if you're making parts in the thousands.
- 3D printed. High tech look and low upfront cost, but can have some surprising restrictions on the part geometry.
- Thermal analysis. Need to make sure the enclosure can dissipate the heat the electronics generate? Check and model the heat flow with finite element analysis.
Reverse engineering
Need to get connectors or fuse boxes that are no longer available? A parts broker can help find parts when they're rare, but Cramer Power Electronics LLC can help you find parts that are nonexistent. We can create new designs based on existing parts, and help you source and build parts that OEMs have discontinued.
We can also reverse engineer electronics parts for classic cars. For example, see our teardown on a replacement voltage regulator.
White label parts
Need a source for ignition modules, voltage regulators, or other electronics for classic cars? We can examine the original design, and see how to make it using modern components. There are a lot of companies that can work to make parts cheaper - we know what automotive electronics can be put through, so we can offer recommendations on how to make them better.
